Doing a marathon in 50 states is something that is on SO MANY bucket lists of runners - there’s an official club for it - 13.1 and 26.2 distances. This mini doc follows the journey of a weekend warrior that undertakes this unique, but storied challenge.
In this week’s email:

Where to Find the Best Deals on Hoka Shoes
Are you a runner? More specifically, a road runner? Hoka was built for that. Meaning “to fly” in Maori, Hoka was founded in 2009 so that runners could get the ultimate experience with optimum cushioning and stability. Less than 15 years after its founding, Hoka is bringing in revenues topping a billion dollars a year, so it’s clear that people are loving this brand. But with quality comes high prices, and Hoka is no doubt in the high end price-wise. So we’ve rounded up the best stores to find the best deals for Hoka.
WTF Post of the Week: A marathon…in a hotel room? WHYYY.
Tidbits
Patagonia: not just the unofficial frat brand: Patagonia is a beautiful country - yes, hard to get to for most of the North American crowd; flights are $1000+, and at least 25 hours of travel, but it’s worth a bucket list add. The outdoor adventure and endurance activities are plentiful, it’s relatively safe for Westerners and…*mostly* cheap.
✅The O.G Endurance Event: Hiking the Appalachian Trail, the original endurance challenge. 5-7 month commitment, deciding to hike North → South or South → North, planning refuel stops - it’s a HUGE undertaking and while you must cover 2,190+ miles by yourself, it’s definitely not a solo adventure, it takes a village.
✅Ultramarathoning: Moab, Utah has a relentless and expansive terrain. It’s unforgiving, hot and offers little reprise in the way of ‘easy’ conditions. Doing an ultramarathon in ANY environment is a nearly impossible task - but doing it in a desert?? whoaaa, man. Next level.
✅Glacier National Park: Hut to hut hiking isn’t something that’s super common in the United States, but it is super cool and allows those of us that don’t want to traditionally backpack (with a bunch of heavy sh*t), to explore the backcountry safely & comfortably.
✅Heliskiing, next level: Jumping out of a helicopter on top of a snow-covered, maybe avalanche-risky mountain is already an endurance activity very few of us will be able to say we did, but launching yourself sky-diving style from a chairlift in the sky? Count us out.
