Week 20

Elle Purrier St. Pierre is a professional runner, a mom, and a dairy farmer. We’re not entering a new era where moms can do whatever they set their minds to; we’ve BEEN in that era, and Elle is just proving it’s here to stay. Setting multiple American records, topping podiums, and celebrating her 2nd Mother’s Day - Elle can do it all. Read about Elle’s Olympic journey HERE.

In this week’s email:

  • AI Swim Goggles: These goggles will ‘read’ your swim strokes and provide real-time feedback via a ‘heads-up’ display in your goggle lens.

  • TRENDING: Vacation training destination thread to follow on Reddit for your next vacation idea.

  • Boston Marathon ‘24: The overpriced Adidas swag of the latest Boston Marathon has officially hit the ‘shelves.’

👇Watch a Cadence-recommended Vid: LCB has been the bridesmaid FAR too many times. Yes - she was crowned World Champion last October in Kona, but even so; she’s struggled to reign from the top of the podium. Watch the video for her health diagnosis; something that once she get’s in check, we predict she’ll be unstoppable.

Post of the Week (in honor of a belated Mother’s Day):

Race Results of the Week

Tidbits

Stay Weird, Tri: The United States is the birthplace of triathlon; now that it’s a global sport - Americans take to the international waters to tri out races in other corners of the world. Just because it originated in the U.S, doesn’t mean international tris don’t take on a flair of their host country. Think nudity & smoke breaks in transition.

Microdosing: Psilocybin, or ‘magic mushrooms’ to our friends out there that were edgy in the 80s, isn’t exactly a performance-enhancing drug, but in extremely small (micro) doses, it has positive effects on the mental state of the user; which, in turn, could contribute to improved endurance performances.

Mt. Whitney Death: The first 2 deaths of the ‘season’ have occurred on Mt. Whitney; 2 climbers were overdue to their camp and were found having succumbed to the harsh spring conditions on the mountain.

Bikepacking Essay: The Traka Adventure is a gravel/bikepacking race that spans 560 KM and more than 3 days through Girona, Spain. This year - it was cancelled due to bad weather but several riders decided to Full Send anyways.

🏃Bucket List Recs

Big training week behind ya and want to add something to your bucket list? Need something to kick your butt into high gear? Check out our endurance bucket list recs below and sign up for something you’ll probably regret when you’re doing a 20 mile training run in August in the Midwest.

  • Traka Adventure: Yes; we talked about this race being cancelled just above, which is why we’re adding it to your bucket list now. 560 KM, 3 days of riding and more than 7,200m of elevation gain; you’ll never see Spain the same after the finish line of this event.

  • Rock Cobbler: Taking place in Bakersfield, CA - this race has a bit of everything and can be taken as seriously (or not so seriously) as you’d like. There’s ball pits to cross, cattle to dodge, and White Claws to down - all in the name of good ole’ fashioned fun.

Performance Of The Week(end): Employee 1.1 of LetsRun.com just broke 15:00 for 5000 for the 1st time at age 36
